The Authorities in Full — A Casebook for SQE1 Legal Services

A 284-page casebook that gives you the cases the way the courts gave them — fully briefed, doctrinally organised, and paired with a statutory companion to the whole Legal Services syllabus.

Holdings alone do not build legal judgment. Each authority is set out in a navy-bordered brief — facts, procedure, issue, holding, reasoning, application — so you see not just what the court decided, but why, and how to use it.

Why This Casebook

Fidelity to the Source

For candidates and students who learn the law best through its sources. The casebook collects the cases that define Legal Services and presents each as a structured brief, beside the statutes that govern the field.

Full Briefs, Not Holdings

Facts, procedure, issue, holding, reasoning, and application for every case — the reasoning, not just the result.

Organised by Doctrine

Cases arranged by area, so each line of authority can be followed as it develops within a topic.

Cases Beside Statutes

A statutory companion sets the LSA 2007, POCA 2002, the MLR 2017, FSMA 2000, and the funding statutes alongside the cases.

How are the cases presented?
Each case sits in a navy-bordered box with its name and full citation, the court and judges, and run-in briefs of facts, procedure, issue, holding, reasoning, and application.

Does it pair with the Treatise?
